Ang Halawom

Ang Halawom, or the deep is my newest finished bronze piece. It is a visual commentary on meetings with majestic creatures, in this case, the jellyfish, in the depths. This piece was inspired by the curious nature of these creatures which are both fragile and breathtaking, yet at the same time, are somehow inextricably linked with danger and destruction.

This was a rushed photograph. I hope I can find the time and equipment to post better images of this piece in the days to come.

Rediscovering Disney Classics

...in the language of the stories' settings. I'm wondering where I can purchase the full versions. They sound fantastic!

Beauty and the Beast in French:

Mulan in Mandarin:

Hercules in Greek:

Aladdin in Arabic:

And an addition that isn't Disney but is one of my favorite renditions in another language is Dreamworks' Prince of Egypt's song "Deliver Us" in Japanese. The English version is haunting by itself but it's interesting how a language I can't understand still has such a strong impact. Chills man. Chills.

Obligatory New Year Post

Working on backgrounds for a game again. Gonna try playing with light some more but the next couple of months will be dedicated to developing more 3D pieces in bronze and clay. Still hoping to get better at illustration so I don't end up like this guy:

...

Today's drawing session was a flop. 5 hours wasted all because common sense was not used. When you have a very pale-skinned model, it is only with an incredible lack of common sense (or a great amount of idiocy) that one would choose toned paper that has the color of cocoa especially when the main goal of the exercise is to accurately portray the value range of flesh tones.

May God grant me wisdom. Terribly disappointed and tired but still hopeful about the days that are coming.
